چکیده

(Mikkelsen 1967) -3% (BrƒÓgger 1967); in patients born to mothers younger than 30 years it is 8.3%, and in those born to mothers older than 30 years it is 1.2% (Mikkelsen 1967). Between the patients born to mothers older and younger than 30 years the difference is highly statistically significant. The frequency of D/G translocations is about the same as the frequence of G/G translocations. About 41% of D/G translocations are inherited while only a small fraction of G/G translocations are transmitted from a parent (BrƒÓgger 1967). The frequency of chromosome mosaicism among patients with typical Down's syndrome is about 1% (Mikkelsen 1967). The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the frequency of translocations in our popula tion of Down's syndrome.

DOWN\'S SYNDROME: CYTOGENETIC STUDIES IN 150 CASES IN TEHRAN

Cytogenetic studies were performed on 150 cases of Down's syndrome (DS) in Iran. The standard trisomy 21 was found in 132 (88 % ) and translocation-trisomy 21 (+21) in 18 (12%) patients, i.e., t(21,21) in 1(0.63%) and mosaicism in 17(11.33%) cases. The comparison of the frequencies for mosaicism between different populations such as Denmark, Hungary, Egypt, Iraq, India, Australia and Iran ...

The present study describes the cytogenetic findings in cases suspected with chromosomal abnormalities, in cases of mental retardation, multiple congenital malformations, clinical features of Down's syndrome, Klinefelter's syndrome, Turner's syndrome, ambiguous sex, sterility, amenorrhea and history of repeated spontaneous abortions in couples. Cytogenetic studies were done in 144 of the total ...

Down's syndrome and acute leukaemia: a cytogenetic study.

The incidence of acute leukaemia in children with Down's syndrome is substantially greater than it is in normal children (Stewart, Webb, and Hewitt, 1958; Holland, Doll, and Carter, 1962), and the leukaemia complicating Down's syndrome is more often of myeloblastic type than is the case in childhood leukaemia generally (Boggs, Wintrobe, and Cartwright, 1962; Warkany, Schubert, and Thompson, 196...

Sibship (21q21q) translocation Down's syndrome with maternal transmission.

A family is reported with eight cases of Down's syndrome and four abortions in a sibship. The cytogenetic studies showed that the mother was a (21q21q) translocation carrier. Two living children were examined and were found to be cases of Down's syndrome with a (21q21q) translocation. Familial Down's syndrome is a relatively rare finding (Hamerton, 1971) and may be due to an inherited transloca...
